    3. Good storiesI enjoyed visiting the old west with Luis Fun reading and easy going into the old Wild West with him

    4. A classic fast moving yet comprehensive and fulfilling reading collection of short stories by the master story teller of American West Louis L amour holds special status in development and progression of my love for reading I get the love for American western novels from my Father He had a huge collection of L Amour books and I grew up reading about those vast rugged lands, boundary less prairies and never reaching the horizon plains He explains it with complete knowledge of the area and terrain [...]

    5. On the whole, this collection of some of Louis L Amour s oldest short stories was entertaining, even fun As long as, that is, L Amour stayed away from material like He was aware of this drive and held it in restraint, but at times it welled up, and he went smashing into trouble a big, rugged, and dangerous man who fought like a Viking gone berserk, except that he fought coldly and shrewdly Lines like that just made me laugh at L Amour, not with him Also, most of the men, with the exception of Sh [...]

    6. Another in the series of posthumous short story collections published annually since author L Amour s death in 1988.Short Stories 7 short stories, 6 collected from the pulps originally published between 1942 and 1951 the latest Grub Line Rider a Kim Sartain story published under the name Jim Mayo The 7th, War Party , was published in the Saturday Evening Post in 1959 and was later expanded to serve as the opening chapters of Bendigo Shafter in 1979.

    7. My secret vice I love Westerns and Louis L Amour is the king of the genre This is a collection of short stories so an ideal short read and a good introduction to Westerns if you have not read any before The heroes are upright and brave, the women are courageous and willing to stand up for themselves and the villains are a jolly bad lot who get their comeuppance but there are shades in between and some of the good guys have a bad side and some of the bad guys turn out to have a heart.

    8. Best western writer of our timeStarted reading Louie L Amour books back in the 70 s I was in high school He has such a grasp of the times. This collection is among some of the best short stories I have reade men in these stories are real men and the women are not afraid to be both tough and tender.Best story of the group was Grub Line Rider.

    9. Some of Louis L Amour s earliest published short stories Several of them he later expanded into some of my favorite book length novels, such as Bendigo Shafter, only for this one it is a prequel of sorts seen from the eyes of one of the minor characters of Bendigo Shafter The stories are entertaining and clearly indicative of what would become L Amour s style I enjoyed them.

    10. True to the L Amour formula, this is a good book If you like cowboys, you will like the main guy Kim Sartain, his lithe, trail hardened body easy in the saddle That sort of thing The book is actually a single author anthology written mostly in the 50 s when life was simpler, or at least different, from today It is worth your time.

    11. This was not a great collection of short stories It was very apparent that some of the short stories had appeared in serial publications because the chapter breaks were really obvious Not one of his best short story collections Go read Bucksin Run for a good collection.

    12. I love to read Louis L Amour s books. The descriptions of landscape s and characters have them come alive in your mindseye I ve been places where I ve watched his stories materialize before my eyes.
